Astronaut Youri Van Rooij

Youri was the man behind the cam, now he is the one you hear on the radio.

My name is Youri van Rooij, born in Haarlem, near the stunning Zandvoort. I began my kitesurfing journey at the age of eight on the shores of IJmuiden, where I spent every summer living in a beach hut. Being on the water every day was, and still is, my perfect day.

Currently, my life revolves around kitesurfing. I work as a kitesurfing instructor in Zandvoort, spend as much time as possible kitesurfing myself, and lend a hand at SpaceX Kitesurfing.

Starting September 2024, I'll be spending at least a year in Bonaire, Dutch Caribbean. Here, I hope to further immerse myself in kitesurfing and create exciting content for SpaceX Kitesurfing.
